Book To Movie Preview

I love movies almost as much as I love books, so when the two are combined, I just can't resist. Here are my most anticipated for 2011.

Jane Eyre - release date March 11, 2011.
Jane is played by Mia Wasikowska who was also Alice in the most recent Wonderland.

Beastly written by Alex Flinn due out March 18, 2011.

Water For Elephants written by Sara Gruen with a release date of April 15, 2011.
Starring Robert Pattinson as Jacob Jankowski

Winnie The Pooh written by A.A. Milne will be revamped and released in July, 2011.
Who can resist?

One For The Money written by Janet Evanovich will be released in movie form in July, 2011.
Starring Ana Reeder as Connie, Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum and Sherri Shepherd as Lula.

And last but not least, The Invention Of Hugo Cabret written by Brian Selznick
due out December, 2011.
Directed by the genius that is Martin Scorsese.

Of course, there are a few books to movies coming out before the end of the year I'm excited about also, including Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1, just in time for my birthday in November.

Are there any books to movies you're looking forward to or books you've always wanted to see made into movies?

You know about ALL the book to movie releases! I am so excited for Beastly.... WHY did they have to move it back to JULY! Sigh.

I'm really looking forward to Harry Potter of course. I'm also really interested in Beastly. I had actually heard that would be a TV show, but a movie is good too.

Also, Firelight recently got a movie deal. I loved the book and can't wait for the movie. I think Paranormalcy got a movie deal too. I'll be waiting to see that one.

Hm... I'd heard of the Beastly book but didn't realize they were making it into a movie. Looks interesting!

Oh wow, really looking forward to some of these, and I didn't know about them! One that I really enjoyed when it came out was the movie adaption of Neil Gaiman's Stardust. Sure, there was a bit of artistic license, but I felt that they really captured the spirit of the book, and that's hard to do.

Eeeep! There's a new Jane Eyre coming out? I don't know if to squee or booh. I loved the BBC version so much with its cast. How can Mr. Rochester ever be more beastly handsome than Toby Stephens? I guess I'll just have to see.

Okay. Squeeeeeee!

I've been hoping that one of my favorite books, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, would be made into a movie, but apparently it's fallen through. They had a script and even a director and some rough casting at one point but things fell apart and now I guess it's pretty well cooked.

That's Hollywood for you. But considering how they f-ed up "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh" that might be a good thing.

My cute little neighbor just finished Beastly and told me to read it. I'll have to before the movie comes out. =)

Jane Eyre looks stunning! So excited!

And of course HP. Based on the latest trailer the last films will be epic. :D

Beastly does look like it will be good. I hadn't heard that about the TV series, Quinn. If the movie is a hit, they may revisit that idea.

Amie, I liked Stardust too, although I haven't read the book.

Tessa, I haven't seen the BBC series(I know, I'm probably the only one), but I LOVE the book.

RM, believe me, there are a lot of movies that have messed up the books they were based on. My Sister's Keeper comes immediately to mind.

Wow - can't wait for Jane Eyre! Also HP of course.

And I couldn't agree with you more about My Sister's Keeper.

Also, don't even get me started on The Other Boleyn Girl.

I'm an instant sucker for any costume drama. I even loved Bright Star which I'm not sure was very widely acclaimed. Bring on Jane Eyre!

As for book to movie in general, I can't say I minded the movie version of Girl with a Pearl Earring. Scarlett Johansson really did work in the role. Usually, though, you lose something just because a movie isn't long enough to capture everything a book can convey.

Oh wow! I didn't know about Beastly! I have got to see that one. Reminds me of Beauty and the Beast but with a twist. I actually don't know too much about it but today will be looking into it for sure!

Julie, I'm hoping they do right by Jane. And I've never seen The Other Boleyn Girl, but probably won't as nothing peeves me more than ruining the film version of a book.

Adina, I haven't seen or read Girl With A Pearl Earring, but thanks for the recommend. I'll put it on my list.

Angela, Beastly is a modern day version of Beauty And The Beast and I hope it's as good as the preview. If only ALL movies could be as good as their previews.

Ooh! Can't wait for Jane Eyre and Winnie the Pooh. Not together of course, but wouldn't that be interesting?
